Dermasport is a dermatologist-founded skincare brand built for athletes and active lifestyles. Our formulas are designed to perform through sweat, sun, chlorine, and salt water without breaking down.

Who founded Dermasport?

Dermasport was founded by Dr. Chris Schmidt, a board-certified dermatologist who has been swimming, running, and surfing for over 50 years. His first-hand experience with sun damage and dry skin led to a decade of research and product development for fellow athletes.

Where is Dermasport made?

Our products are formulated and manufactured in the U.S. at FDA-registered facilities. Our aluminum bottles are sourced from Spain. Our plastic tubes are sourced from Mexico.

What is ARC (Ageless Recovery Complex)?

ARC is our proprietary Ageless Recovery Complex, developed by Dr. Schmidt, that helps active skin recover faster from sun, sweat, and environmental stress. All of Dermasport's products are formulated with ARC.

Why is Dermasport the official sunscreen of the USLA?

The United States Lifesaving Association chose Dermasport because our formulas perform in real-world ocean conditions - lifeguards need sun protection that won't sting, smudge, or wash off during long shifts in surf and sun. Dermasport also uses safe clean ingredients that doesn't irritate the skin.

Do you have an ambassador program?

Yes, Dermasport has a thriving ambassador network featuring athletes from all ages backgrounds. We like to work with ambassadors who have used Dermasport products before and are active on social media but that is not a requirement. If you're interested in learning more, please send us a DM.

SHIPPING

How long does it take to process my order?

Orders are processed within 1-2 business days from the date of purchase. You'll get an email notification once your order has shipped.

Where do you ship to?

We currently ship to all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories. We do not offer international shipping at this time.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Shipping times vary based on the service selected and your delivery address. You'll receive tracking via email once your order ships.

How much does shipping cost?

Standard Shipping is $7.99. Dermasport offers free shipping on orders over $75.

Do you ship to APO/FPO addresses?

Yes, we ship to APO and FPO addresses via USPS. Delivery times may be longer than standard ground.

Can I change my shipping address after I order?

Contact us right away at hello@dermasport.com with your order number. If your order hasn't shipped, we can update the address. Once shipped, we're unable to reroute.

What if my package is lost or never arrives?

Email hello@dermasport.com with your order number and we'll work with the carrier to locate it or send a replacement.

RETURNS & REFUNDS

What is your return policy?

We offer a 60-day money-back guarantee. If you're not completely satisfied, return the bottles within 60 days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price (minus shipping and handling) - even if the bottles are empty.

How do I start a return?

Email hello@dermasport.com to start a return. Items sent back without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

How long do refunds take?

Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll notify you if it's approved. Approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank may take a few extra days to post the refund.

What if my order arrives damaged or wrong?

Inspect your order on arrival and contact us immediately at hello@dermasport.com if anything is defective, damaged, or incorrect. We'll evaluate and make it right.

Can I exchange a product for a different one?

The fastest way to get the product you want is to return the original item and place a separate order for the replacement.

I bought Dermasport from another retailer. Can I return it through you?

If you bought from one of our retail partners, please contact that retailer directly. We're unable to issue refunds or exchanges for orders placed outside of Dermasport.com.

Do I have to pay return shipping?

Yes, return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the product was damaged or incorrect.

SKIN CARE EDUCATION

What SPF do you recommend for athletes?

Focus on ingredients and water resistance, not just the SPF number. For prolonged outdoor activity, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher with 80-minute water resistance. Reapply every 80 minutes when sweating or in water. Athletes also need sunscreen with clean ingredients that they can use daily without fear of sunburn or irritation.

Do I need sunscreen for short workouts?

Yes. UV damage is cumulative and even short outdoor sessions add up over a year. Wear sunscreen every day you'll be outside, regardless of duration.

Do I need sunscreen on cloudy days?

Yes. Up to 80% of UV rays pass through clouds. Daily SPF is the single most effective anti-aging and skin cancer prevention step. According to dermatologist Dr. Christopher Schmidt, sunscreen is the best anti-aging product available. When in doubt, put some on before you go out.

How often should I see a dermatologist?

Most dermatologists recommend an annual full-body skin check. If you have a personal or family history of skin cancer, or lots of sun-exposed activity, go more often.

Is chlorine bad for my skin?

Yes - chlorine strips away the skin's natural oils (sebum), which act as a barrier that keeps moisture in and irritants out. Without that barrier, skin gets dry, itchy, and inflamed.

How do I protect my skin from chlorine?

Two-step approach: before swimming, apply our SPF 50 Facial Sunscreen to create a barrier that reduces chlorine absorption. After swimming, wash off residual chlorine with the Gentle Facial Cleanser, then moisturize to restore your skin barrier.

No. It goes on clear and dries fast - no white cast and no greasy feel.

Is the Clear Body Spray a mineral sunscreen?

No - the Clear Body SPF 50 Spray is a chemical sunscreen formulated for athletes who want sheer, no-cast coverage. If you prefer mineral, use our Mineral Body SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray.

Is it propellant-free?

Yes. The Clear Body SPF 50 Spray uses a propellant-free 'Shake and Spray' applicator in a recyclable spray can.

How long is it water resistant?

80 minutes - the maximum allowed by FDA.

Can I use it on my face?

We recommend our SPF 50 Facial Sunscreen Lotion for the face. The Clear Body Spray is designed for arms, legs, chest, and back.

Is it gentle enough for sensitive skin?

Twice daily - once in the morning and once after your last workout or swim of the day. Always cleanse immediately after swimming or heavy sweating to prevent chlorine and salt from sitting on your skin.

What makes the Mineral Body Spray reef-safe?

It uses non-nano zinc oxide as the active ingredient and complies with Hawaii SB2571 - no oxybenzone or octinoxate.

Will the Mineral Spray leave a white cast?

It's formulated to minimize white cast more than typical mineral sunscreens. Apply a light layer and rub in to blend fully. If you prefer a sunscreen that does not leave any white cast, our dermatologist recommends the Clear Body SPF 50 Spray Sunscreen ast and may prefer the Clear Body SPF 50 Spray.

Is it good for sensitive skin?

Yes. Non-nano zinc oxide, fragrance-free, paraben-free, and formulated with bisabolol (chamomile-derived) to calm and reduce redness.

Why SPF 30 instead of SPF 50?

SPF 30 blocks ~97% of UVB rays and is widely recommended by dermatologists for daily wear. For longer or more intense exposure, layer with our SPF 50 lotion or pair with sun-protective clothing.
